The mission of Front Line is to protect, defend, support and act for human rights defenders whose lives and/or physical and mental health is at risk, either temporarily or permanently, because of their activities. Front Line seeks to provide rapid and practical support to at-risk human rights defenders, including through a 24 hour emergency response phone line, and to promote the visibility and recognition of human rights defenders as a vulnerable group. Refuge is a national charity in the United Kingdom for women and children experiencing domestic violence, working to provision them a number of services (national help line, safety places, counselling, etc.), helping prevent violence through campaigning, education, training and research, and advocating having the legislation in this area enhanced and the changes implemented.

Tactical Tech helps human rights advocates to use information, communications and digital technologies to maximise the impact of their advocacy work. They also train human rights defenders on issues of digital security. Zennström Philanthropies provides support to Tactical Tech’s work with human rights advocates in Europe.

Despite a half-century of practice and reflection on transitional justice, neither scholars nor policy-makers have a solid understanding of its achievements and its failures. The Transitional Justice Data Base Project was established to investigate the adoption and impact of transitional justice mechanisms around the world, through the creation and analysis of a global data base of mechanisms. This work is carried out in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Transitional Justice Project.
Zennström Philanthropies provides support to this ongoing research into how, when, and why transitional justice succeeds at improving human rights and democracy.

WITNESS is an international human rights organisation that provides training and support to local groups to use video in their human rights advocacy campaigns. Beyond providing video cameras and editing equipment, WITNESS is committed to facilitating exposure on a global scale. Once a video is made, it can be used as a tool to advocate for change. “See it, Film it, Change it” is their motto.
