Human Rights Watch is dedicated to protecting the human rights of people around the world, to prevent discrimination, to uphold political freedom, to protect people from inhumane conduct in wartime, and to bring offenders to justice while investigating and exposing human rights violations.

Established in 1961, Amnesty International is a human rights organisation whose purpose is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and trust are denied. They work to achieve human rights for everyone in two main ways:
1.promoting general awareness of human rights and the values contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as well as other internationally agreed human rights standards and
2.opposing specific abuses of human rights through research and action. Amnesty International is a campaigning organisation with 2.2 million members worldwide.

Global Witness exposes the corrupt exploitation of natural resources and international trade systems, to drive campaigns that end impunity, resource-linked conflict, and human rights and environmental abuses.

Refuge is a national charity in the United Kingdom for women and children experiencing domestic violence, working to provision them a numberof services (national help line, safety places, counselling, etc.), helping prevent violence through campaigning, education, training and research, and advocating having the legislation in this area enhanced and the changes implemented.
The International Centre for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) www.ictj.org
ICTJ assists countries pursuing accountability for past mass atrocity or human rights abuse. The Centre works in societies emerging from repressive rule or armed conflict, as well as in established democracies where historical injustices or systemic abuse remain unresolved.

The Andrei Sakharov Foundation aims to preserve the memory of the millions of victims of political repression and crimes of the Soviet regime, and to contribute to the establishment of an open democratic society and state in today's Russia, as advocated by Andrei Sakharov.
Zennström Philanthropies is supporting the organisation of a conference to mark the 20th anniversary of the death of Andrei Sakharov and bring his message to a new generation.

The Commissioner for Human Rights is an independent institution within the Council of Europe, mandated to promote the awareness of and respect for human rights in the 47 member states of the Council of Europe.
Zennström Philanthropies is supporting the publication of a selection of the human rights writings of Andrei Sakharov, as well as an exhibition on his life and human rights work to mark the 60th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Despite a half-century of practice and reflection on transitional justice, neither scholars nor policy-makers have a solid understanding of its achievements and its failures. The Transitional Justice Data Base Project was established to investigate the adoption and impact of transitional justice mechanisms around the world, through the creation and analysis of a global data base of mechanisms. This work is carried out in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Transitional Justice Project.
Zennström Philanthropies provides support to this ongoing research into how, when, and why transitional justice succeeds at improving human rights and democracy.

WITNESS is an international human rights organisation that provides training and support to local groups to use video in their human rights advocacy campaigns. Beyond providing video cameras and editing equipment, WITNESS is committed to facilitating exposure on a global scale. Once a video is made, it can be used as a tool to advocate for change. "See it, Film it, Change it" is their motto.
