How we work

At Zennström Philanthropies we believe that our energy and resources are best employed by working long-term with organisations we have chosen ourselves. For this reason,

The organisations we support can be from any part of the world, and will have been in existence for a minimum of two years, with at least two years of annual reports and audited accounts behind them.

In forming partnerships and making investments, Zennström Philanthropies will seek organisations with good leadership and that have the ability to scale and sustain their impact over a long-term period. Our goal is to build relationships based on a firm understanding of and passion for each organisation's mission, initiatives, accomplishments and future plans.

Zennström Philanthropies’ engagement is subject to comprehensive terms and conditions. It is offered only after careful scrutiny of the organisation and its operations, including site visits of one or more of an organisation's activities. Each funded organisation is required to provide Zennström Philanthropies with regular progress reports.

The directors meet four times a year to agree on the engagement which Zennström Philanthropies will grant to each organisation elected. Although we take expert advice at all stages of the decision-making process, we, as directors, are solely responsible for the choice of groups with whom we engage.
